Hinch Peated Single Malt - Tentatively related to Saint Benignus (of Ireland)

Hinch Peated Single Malt

I recently bought a bottle of this little lovely.  I did not know anything about Hinch being new to Irish single malts but continuing to be impressed and this is no disappointment.  Although it is Peaty, it is more subtle than some of the Scottish equivalents, with a pleasant smoky odour and a slightly nutty after taste.

Hinch says this about this Whisky: -

PEATED SINGLE MALT
Sweet tar and a smoky, woodish nose with immediate strong peat flavours on the palate. Lingering and nuanced fruit undertones survive the peat storm. A hint of liquorice comes through on the palate as the peat gently mellows awaiting your next sip.

Masters of Malt have this to say about the tasting: -

Nose: Caramelised oak, woody cinnamon, and honey-roasted ham, with a crack of rock salt all backed up by a wave of peat smoke.
Palate: Smoked nuts and barbecued meats, charred herbs, and fresh fruit sweetness, with building chilli spice.
Finish: Charred chilli pepper and bonfire smoke.
