I saw the
Adnams Single Malt for sale on Masters of Malt and coming from Essex originally
feel a little sense of supporting the local business in Suffolk. Anyway, I am always up for trying an English
Single Malt or something different.
On first
taste it was nice, smooth, easy drinking, no harsh after tastes with a hint of
vanilla. I thoroughly enjoyed it, well
until I went on to my favourite Pogues … and then it got pushed back to second
best for the evening, but not a bad English whisky at a reasonable price.
What
Masters of Malt have to say about it:
Nose: Oak, bubblegum, apricot, moving onto
vanilla, butterscotch, still quite fruity. After adding a drop of water there’s
kirsch and, yep, runny honey. Red and black cherries develop alongside a hint
of red chilli and, increasingly, red rope liquorice.
Palate: Pepper and more bubblegum, white orchard
fruit notes and blueberry, hint of cookie dough.
Finish: More sweeties, a little spicy caramel
and the cracked outsides of Smarties (but not the chocolate bit - that's to be
found in the Triple Grain!), fruitiness lingers too.
Overall: A unique and tasty young English single
malt whisky.
